SPECIFICATIONS & FEATURES

Our Hora Gai is 100% natural without synthetic reed.  Tips are cut-off and expertly shaped and buffed into a mouth piece, same principle as a trumpet.  Sound is produced by vibrating the lips against the mouth piece while blowing into the shell.  Tone and resonance becomes deeper and longer as the size of shell increases.  Decorative red rope and tassel is articulately  tied on the shell for attractive appearance on stage.

We made a special buy (limited quantity) of Giant Pacific Triton Shells in mint condition.  These extra large shells are nearing extinction due to over harvesting in the Pacific islands.  Most preferred size Hora Gai is between 14 to 17 inches for its deep resonant tone to set an ambience of an ancient Japanese harbor or the battle fields.  Smaller triton and conch shells produce much higher tone with minimal sustain.  Availability is limited to our current supply.
